Abstract

Abstract in weiterer Sprache

The dichlorides, [P(C7H7)2(h2-C7H7)]MCl2 (M = Pt (1a), Pd (1b)), which were prepared as starting materials for further reactions, were obtained as described for other olefinc phosphanes from cis-dichloro compounds such as (L-L)MCl2 (L-L = cyclooctadiene, norbornadiene, L = R-CN). The reaction with P(C7H7)3 gave square-planar 16e- chelate complexes, where both phosphorus and the central h2-C=C bond of one cyclohepta-2,4,6-trienyl ring are involved in coordination. Treatment of 1a,b with sodium or potassium salts of some halides and pseudohalides afforded halogeno and pseudohalogeno complexes. The x-ray structure analysis confirmed the coordination of one defined double bond at the metal centre in the solid state, while in solution dynamic behaviour with respect to the bonding of the central C=C units is observed. This fluxional process consists of fast exchange among all three C7H7 rings at the metal. Organyl-substituted compounds of platinum and palladium containing P(C7H7)3 Treatment of 1a,b with either Grignard reagents or lithium compounds afforded a number of organo-platinum and -palladium complexes, [P(C7H7)2(h2-C7H7)]MR2 (M = Pt, Pd; R = alkyl or aryl). The reaction of 1a with dimethyldialkinyl-stannanes, Me2Sn(CºCR)2, gave the mono-(alkinyl) complexes which contain P(C7H7)3 as chelating ligand. In these products the CºC-R group occupies selectively the trans-position with respect to the coordinated double bond. Halogeno and pseudohalogeno complexes of platinum and palladium containing tri(1-cyclohepta-2,4,6-trienyl)phosphane, P(C7H7)3 It was not possible to obtain bis(alkinyl) complexes by the reaction of 1a with Me2Sn(CºCR)2, even with an excess of the organo-tin compound or at higher temperatures. Their synthesis was possible, however, by treating the corresponding (partially new) (h4-cycloocta-1,5-diene) complexes, (cod)Pt(CºC-R)2, with P(C7H7)3. Dichalcogenolato complexes of platinum and palladium containing P(C7H7)3 Complexes 1a,b were also used as starting materials for the synthesis of a number of dichalcogenolato compounds containing P(C7H7)3. The additional dithiolato or diselenolato chelate ligands may bear "organic" or "inorganic" substituents. The corresponding dichalcogenols, their lithium or potassium salts and di(cyclopentadienyl)-titanium(IV) complexes, Cp2Ti[E2C2(CO2Me)2], which act as ligand transfer reagents, can be used for the preparation of such compounds. Cationic complexes of nickel, palladium and platinum containing the ligand P(C7H7)3 It is possible to prepare a number of cationic 16e- complexes containing P(C7H7)3 as chelating ligand. In these compounds different acetylacetonate- or allyl ligands take part as additional 3e- donors. Introduction of the cyclopentadienyl ligand leads to cationic 18e- halfsandwich complexes, {CpM[P(C7H7)2(h2-C7H7)]}BF4 (M = Pt, Pd, Ni). In the case of palladium(II) and nickel(II) the products are formed by displacement of h4-cycloocta-1,5-diene from [CpM(cod)]BF4 by the olefinic phosphane P(C7H7)3; the corresponding platinum(II) compound was obtained by consecutive reactions of 1a with TlCp and AgBF4. The treatment of 1a,b with silver salts affords the elimination of a chloride anion and the formation of compounds, {[P(h2-C7H7)3]MCl}PF6 (M = Pt, Pd), in which P(C7H7)3 acts as tripodal tetradentate ligand. Special NMR investigations on complexes of group 10 containing P(C7H7)3 All new complexes were characterized mainly by multinuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H, 13C, 29Si, 31P, 77Se, 195Pt). In all investigations the 31P-NMR measurements played an important role. In addition to fast reaction control, it is possible to predict the structure of compounds due to the clear dependence of d31P on the number of coordinated double bonds. Platinum complexes were synthesized preferentially because of the presence of an additional spectroscopic probe (195Pt: I = ½). The different trans-influence of ligands becomes evident by comparing the corresponding 1J(195Pt,31P) coupling constants. The chemical shifts d195Pt confirm the "mixed" character of the new olefinic phosphane, P(C7H7)3, which combines the properties of a phosphane and of a p-coordinated C=C double bond. In the case of some model compounds the chelate structure of P(C7H7)3 in solution could be unequivocally determinated by low-temperature 1H- and 13C-NMR measurements. Because the exchange of the C7H7 substituents at the metal centre became "frozen" at low temperatures, it is possible to distinguish between the two kinds of rings (coordinated and non-coordinated).
