Abstract
Entrepreneurship research has attested to the critical value of passion for entrepreneurs’ success. Within this progressing research stream, this dissertation seeks to address underexplored topics that particularly lay at the intersection of individual entrepreneurs and their start-up teams. Employing varying methodological approaches (qualitative, quantitative, and experimental designs), this dissertation examines the emergence of team entrepreneurial passion, the regulation of passion within start-up teams, passion’s capacity as a signal between entrepreneurial leaders and employees, as well as a parameter for entrepreneurs’ exit decisions. Covering various topics across the entrepreneurial journey, this dissertation provides new perspectives on entrepreneurial passion beyond the individual. It sheds light on passion’s dynamic and complex value for entrepreneurial teams and organizations. Therefore, this dissertation offers new insights for research on entrepreneurial passion, entrepreneurial teams, and leadership, as well as practical implications for entrepreneurs, teams, and their supporters.

Die Entrepreneurshipforschung hat den kritischen Wert unternehmerischer Leidenschaft für den Erfolg von Unternehmer:innen attestiert. Innerhalb dieses fortschreitenden Forschungsstrom, möchte die vorliegende Dissertation bisher unerforschte Themenfelder, insbesondere an der Schnittstelle von individuellen Gründer:innen und deren Start-up-Teams, adressieren. Durch den Einsatz verschiedener methodischer Ansätze (qualitativer, quantitativer und experimenteller Designs), untersucht diese Dissertation die Entstehung von unternehmerischer Leidenschaft im Team, die Regulation von Leidenschaft im Team, die Kapazität von Leidenschaft als Signal zwischen unternehmerischen Führungskräften und ihren Mitarbeitenden, sowie Leidenschaft als Parameter für die Exit-Entscheidungen von Gründer:innen. eröffnet diese Dissertation neue Perspektiven zu unternehmerischer Leidenschaft über das Individuum hinaus. Sie beleuchtet den dynamischen und komplexen Wert von unternehmerischer Leidenschaft für Start-up-Teams und Organisationen. Dadurch bietet diese Dissertation neue Erkenntnisse zur Forschung zu unternehmerische Leidenschaft, zu Start-up-Teams sowie Leadership und praktische Implikationen für Gründer:innen, Start-up-Teams und ihre Supporter:innen.
